More than 16,000 drug-education booklets have been distributed across France by volunteers from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie. The French drug-prevention campaign reaches families through shops and public information stands.
Local outreach brought 3,100 booklets to businesses in Tarn, 3,000 to approximately 50 shops in Arcachon and 5,100 to Paris’s Oberkampf district.
The visits also prompted requests for teaching resources. In Ariège, a person working with a centre for young people with disabilities approached volunteers for materials.
The campaign Health uses La vérité sur la copyright, the French version of the secular Truth About Drugs programme. The Church of Scientology and its members support the programme, inspired by founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about the effects of drugs.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, commented: “Parents and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
European Scientologists participate in drug-prevention education, human-rights initiatives and local volunteer projects.
